Hanse Regatta, Kings Lynn

May 20

MANDATORY Cox’s briefing at 9am in Registration Tent

First start (Ladies) is at 09:45

On arriving, all competitors proceed to the Car park adjacent the slipway (see map link). You will be shown where to park your cars/trailers and helped to launch. Competitors for the first race will row away from the slipway. After launching your craft, competitors using the same boats for the later races (Men’s and Mixed), make your way to the pontoons where the crew swaps will take place.

Race details; 3 short, 2 mile dashes along the waterfront, around and under a bridge starting and finishing off at the historic Purfleet Quay and Customs House. Ladies, then Mens, then Mixed; half hourly starts; first at 09:45 (High Water = 10:30). We are constrained to 10 boats for each race so, first come, first served.

-Email your Kings Lynn Regatta Entry Form to us at admin@klcrc.club; further race details can be found here:Kings Lynn Regatta Race Instructions and here: Kings Lynn Regatta Racing Rules

This trophy will be presented to the Elite St Ayles Skiff, not necessary the fastest but the one in best condition. King’s Lynn’s two Skiffs won’t be in the judging for this trophy and the trophy is to be kept by the lucky winners.

-The event: every year Kings Lynn celebrates its Hanseatic history with a Hanse Day; see Hanse festival

For 2018 we will create a visual spectacle to showcase King’s Lynn’s maritime past and also demonstrate how the river could be used for pleasure going forward. All Coastal Rowing Crews welcome…… Local businesses, the Conservancy Board, Borough Council and local Historical Society are all supporting the event. This will be a regatta and river display with other craft (such as Baden Powell) on show. All alongside a pageant, stalls and music throughout the old quarter of Kings Lynn, centred on Purfleet and South Quay where the pageant and regatta start and finish take place.

Should you prefer to make a weekend of it, skiffs can be launched and left moored in the river the day before (Saturday HW is at 09:51 and we will help you launch up  to 11:30). These links will show you what to see and do and where to stay:
