- Saturday’s races are now part of the SECRF Nelson’s Cup
- local accommodation added at the bottom of the page
On Saturday May 16th and Sunday 17th 2020, King’s Lynn Town are repeating their popular regatta. KLCRC will be organising the regatta on behalf of the town. At the moment we are aiming at 4 sprint races and some fun-races. The format will be very similar to 2019’s with 3 fixed-seat, open and handicapped races for Ladies; Gents and Mixed on the Saturday (which will be part of the SECRF Nelson’s Cup series – competitors note change from Sunday to Saturday). A staggered-start chase on boat handicap and the very popular “Ye Olde Corn Shovel” heats on Sunday. Ye Olde Corn Shovel races celebrate the town’s history with a resurrection of the 19th century’s “Corn Shovel Races” (shovels provided!). You will find a DRAFT schedule of regatta events below (mainly to show HW times and start/finish approximations). The town will also be celebrating their annual Hanse Festival, so it should be a great weekend whether you want to compete or just take in KL’s history, food & drink, parades and music. We have included a ‘Competing Crews Social Events’ page below.
Visiting crews will have an invite to the Ferry Lane Social Club for a hog roast and drinks after Saturday’s presentations (the ‘Ouse Booze’ are stocking more beers this year; no names-no pack-drills! BOCRC) .
We have secure storage for your boats (including pontoon for overnight) and plenty of very reasonable accommodation locally. If you are at all interested, email us. We recommend you commit early as accommodation will be at a premium on the run-up to Hanse and there is a maximum of 10 craft for each single start (not the Sunday Staggered Start.)
Visitors can arrive Friday about midday to launch (HW 13:40) and leave their craft at our secure pontoons overnight (recommended as our slipway is not nice either side of HW+-2!). We also have secure facilities to leave cars and trailers + a workshop if necessary.
We will have a Safety Boat with the races but please bring life jackets (they are mandatory for participants) and VHFs.
We’d love to see you
