After a year of planning and research we are finally ready to launch our club. If you are interested, come to one of our 2 ‘Launch evenings’ to be held at the Crown and Mitre PH, Ferry Street, Kings Lynn, PE30 1LJ. Monday April 7th and Thursday April 10th at 7:00pm . We now have the funds, skills and logistics in place to build and get our first boat on the water this year. So if you have or want boat building or boat rowing skills, why don’t you come along and find out why there are now 80 St Ayles skiffs in build in the UK and 50 more worldwide. If you cannot make either of these dates but want to know more, just use the contact/join us tab above.
Our committee met last night and agreed to continue to apply for funding from other bodies but to also seek sponsorship. We are well aware that until the first build starts, there is little to show prospective sponsors beyond display boards and local news coverage. Therefore we have decided that we will start the project with the funds for just 1 boat, confident that when we start the ‘doors open’ build on South Quay, the interest we gather will prove a great attraction. So we are seeking £5,000 to enable us to start. This will purchase the kit and materials for 1 boat plus the rental, insurance and ancillary overheads we need for the workshop. If you are interested in boat-building and rowing activities in Kings Lynn or wish to discuss commercial sponsorship opportunities, use the Contact/Join us tab or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A diary date if you want to see one of these boats locally; The Coastal Rowing Association Blakeney are launching Hoi Larntan and, quote, “you and your colleagues/interested parties are invited to join us at the launch of Hoi Larntan on the Quay at Blakeney, Saturday 25 May 18:00-18:30ish on the high tide. Small procession and drink/eats in Blakeney Sailing Clubhouse after“.
